Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a nice vintage table lamp from the atomic era, complete with its original cylindrical fiberglass shades. Circa '50s. Theme: Floral, Atomic. The base is constructed of black lacquered wood and brass tubing. The round base at the bottom of the lamp is metal. The fiberglass shades are beige in color, and they have painted on criss-cross patterns in black and white. There is an an on/off switch located on the base which allows the lamp three-way functionality: one twist of the knob allows for one socket to light up. A second twist allows for the other socket to light up. And a third twist allows for both sockets to light up at the same time. The underside of the base has an old piece of green felt. We are uncertain of the manufacturer - possibly Majestic, Luxcraft or Guggenheim. It'll make a great addition to any mid century modern themed home.
Measurements: With the shades attached, the lamp stands approx. 28.75" tall x 16.5" wide. Each of the shades measures approx. 10" tall x 7.5" in diameter. The round metal base at the bottom of the lamp measures approx. 8" in diameter.
Condition: While not perfect, the lamp is in very good condition for its age. There are a few minor cosmetic things which we'll mention here. First off, there is a tiny spot of black paint missing on the larger black accent piece close to where it touches the round gold metal base. It's extremely minor and can be touched up quite easily - we just chose to leave it in the condition in which it was acquired as it's very minor, in our opinion. The next thing to note is the top surface of the round gold metal base shows some signs of light scratching and color loss. We have not attempted to do anything in terms of cleaning and/or polishing the base. Lastly, one of the shades has a very small, shallow chip in the material where it is threaded to the ring at the bottom (see photo) - it doesn't appear to be affecting the structural integrity of the shade, but we just wanted to point it out for accuracy. The electrical wiring looks as thought it is original to the lamp, and it's in very good shape - there are no frays, splits, exposed or brittle wires, etc. As with all vintage lighting, we always recommend having the wiring checked by a licensed professional prior to long-term use. Being sold "as-is" - if you have questions, we do encourage you to ask them before purchasing as all sales are final. Please bid with confidence.
