Reserved For Rachel - Rare TALL Vintage 70s Cork Chrome Table / Floor Lamp Mid Century Modern Lighting

Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare cork lamp - it's the mother of all cork lamps! This lamp is gigantic - we're not certain if it was intended to be a floor lamp or a table lamp - we suppose it can be used either way. Circa '70s. The base is cork and chrome, while the tall cylindrical shade is a light cloth-like material over a plastic interior. The lamp has an inline on/off switch that is located in the electrical wiring. The lamp still retains its original UL yellow sticker label located by the socket (see photo). We are uncertain as to the maker or manufacturer.

Measurements: With the cylindrical shade attached, the lamp stands an enormous 58" tall. The distance from the bottom of the cork base to the finial is approx. 47" tall. The cork base measures approx. 14" tall x 10" in diameter. The shade alone measures approx. 47" tall x 10.75" in diameter.

Condition: Given it's age, we'd say the lamp is in overall good condition. There are some cosmetic flaws, mainly with the shade, which we'll go over in a minute. The cork and chrome base appears to be free from having any issues - there are no chips, cracks, breaks, dents, dings, rust, oxidation, chunks of cork missing, etc. The electrical wiring looks to be original to the lamp, and it's in very good shape - there are no frays, splits, exposed or brittle wires, etc. As with all vintage lighting, we always recommend having the wiring checked by a licensed professional prior to long-term use. Moving onto the shade, there are a number of things worth pointing out. First, the upper ring of the shade has detached from the shade material, and is being held in place with tape. The tape seems to be doing the trick; however, one might want to consider something that'll be more stable in the long-term. Secondly, there are some old moisture marks around the top of the shade material (see photos), as well as some other small random marks here and there (again, see photos). We have not attempted to clean any of them to see if they'll come out, so what you see, is what you're getting. If we were going to keep the lamp, we'd simply replace the outer material of the shade. The inner plastic lining of the shade appears to be in decent shape - there does not appear to be any problems with the material. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the very large size and fragile nature of this lamp, it will have to ship in two separate parcels - one will contain the shade, and the other will contain the base.
