Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a vintage PRESCOLITE adjustable brass desk lamp. Circa '50s / '60s. The shade is adjustable, as is the upright neck that it is attached to. The shade is pierced with small equally spaced holes which also allows for light to shine out. There is a vertical plastic arm attached to the shade which is used for adjusting the shade to the desired position. The lamp has a standard on/off rotary knob switch that is located on the top of the shade. The bottom of the lamp base has old brown felt on it. With a little TLC, this beauty will come out looking better than it already does! Suitable for any modern interior setting.
Measurements: With the adjustable arm slightly angled back from its full upright position as seen in the first photo, the lamp stands approx. 16.5" tall x 13" wide. The shade measures approx. 6.25" tall, with the opening being approx. 9" in diameter. The round brass base measures approx. 7.25" in diameter.
Condition: Overall the lamp is in decent condition, but not perfect - mainly cosmetic stuff. The brass shows signs of scratching and some discoloration / tarnishing spots from age. We have not attempted to clean and/or polish the lamp, but it could certainly liven it up a bit. There are no dents, dings, rust, repairs, etc. The adjustment points for both the neck and shade work well - they hold their positions without slippage. The underside of the shade shows discoloration / spotting (see photo). The electrical wiring appears to be original, and is in great shape - no frays, splits, exposed and/or brittle areas. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working order. This lamp would make a great candidate for refurbishing, but it's completely presentable and functions appropriately in its current state. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly urge to have the wiring inspected by a licensed professional prior to long-term use. Being sold "as-is" - if you have questions, we do encourage you to ask them before purchasing as all sales are final. Please bid with confidence.
