Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare vintage double boomerang chalkware lamp complete with its original accompanying fiberglass shades. Circa '50s. The base is made of chalkware, and is brown, beige and gold in color. The slightly angled cylindrical shades are constructed of fiberglass, and they are beige in color with black paint drizzle randomly applied throughout. The lamp functions with a standard on/off rotary knob switch that is embedded in the base (see photo), and it provides for three-different setting: either one or the other of the two sockets can light up independently of the other, or a third twist allows both to light up together. We are uncertain as to the maker of the lamp - no labels or tags present. There is old felt on the underside of the base - it needs to be replaced as it is falling off. A great rare gem for that atomic lamp collector!
Measurements: With the shades attached, the lamp stands approx. 30" tall x 28" wide. Each of the two fiberglass shades measures approx. 13.5" tall x 6.75" in diameter. The light sockets are set at slightly staggered heights - the lower socket being approx. 17.75" from the bottom of the base, and the upper socket being approx. 20.75" from the bottom of the base.
Condition: Given the age of the lamp, we'd say it's in very good condition. The base is free from chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, missing pieces, etc. The coloration on the back side is slightly lighter than that of the front side (see photos) - this is how we acquired the lamp years ago. Our guess is it may be sun fading, but we're not 100% certain. The shades are in great shape - no rips, holes, tears, punctures, repairs, etc. One of the shades has the start of a small, pea-sized darkened spot and some general dirt in the material (see photos) - it's along the back side of the shade. The lacing is in great shape - it appears to be original and is free from breaks. The electrical wiring appears to be original, and is in great shape - no frays, splits, exposed and/or brittle areas. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working order. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly urge to have the wiring inspected by a licensed professional prior to long-term use. Being sold "as-is" - if you have questions, we do encourage you to ask them before purchasing as all sales are final. Please bid with confidence.
PLEASE NOTE: This lamp will ship in two separate parcels - one will contain the base, while the other will contain the shades. Both parcels will be fully-insured.
