Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare and incredible vintage plaster / chalkware table lamp from the 1950s, complete with its original double-tiered fiberglass shade. The base takes on a biomorphic form. It is a beige color with black and gold paint splatters randomly scattered over the surface. The double tiered fiberglass shade is two-toned - the smaller upper tier has a pinkish coloration, while the larger lower tier is a beige color. Both have fibrous filaments randomly scattered throughout (see photos). The lamp has an on/off toggle switch that is located at the socket. To top it all off, at the very apex of the lamp is a fabulously large atomic finial. We are uncertain as to the maker of the lamp - there are no signatures or labels that we can see present; it does however remind us of the lamps that the Plasto Mfg. Co. produced during that period. It is suitable for an modern interior setting, and is ready for a new home.
Measurements: With the shade attached, the lamp stands approx. 29.5" tall (measured from the bottom of the base to the top of the finial). The distance from the bottom of the base to the light socket is approx. 14" high. The plaster base measures approx. 10" tall x 9.5" wide x 4.5" deep. The double tiered fiberglass shade measures approx. 13.25" tall, with the diameter of the smaller pinkish tier being 8", and it tapers down to 5" at the bottom of the larger beige tier. The atomic finial measures approx. 6.25" tall!
Condition: Excellent condition for its age - the plaster base has no chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc. The shade is completely intact, and is clean - there are no rips, holes, tears, stains, burn marks, repairs, etc. The electrical wiring appears to be original, and is in good condition - there are no frays, splits, exposed or brittle areas to the wiring. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working order. We always recommend having a licensed electrician inspect the lamp prior to long-term use, just to be safe. Being sold "as-is" - if you have questions, we do encourage you to ask them before purchasing as all sales are final. Please bid with confidence.
