Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale an incredible pair of rare vintage plaster table lamps from the 1950s, complete with their original double-tiered fiberglass shades. The bases are biomorphic in form, and are a teal color with gold and beige paint splatters randomly scattered over their surfaces. The double tiered fiberglass shades are two-toned - the smaller upper tier on each is a beige coloration, while the larger lower tier is a teal color. Both have fibrous filaments randomly scattered throughout (see photos). One lamp has an on/off toggle switch at the socket, while the other has a rotary knob switch (uncertain as to whether a previous owner swapped out one of the mechanisms at one point, but it's possible). To top it all off, at the very apex of each lamp there is a large atomic finial. We are uncertain as to the maker of the lamps - there are no signatures or labels on either lamp that we can see present; they do however remind us of lamps that the Plasto Mfg. Co. produced during that period. They are suitable for any modern interior or atomic themed setting, and they're ready for a new home.
Measurements: With the shades attached, each lamp stands approx. 29.5" tall (measured from the bottom of the base to the top of the finial). The distance from the bottom of the base to the light socket is approx. 14" high. Each plaster base measures approx. 10" tall x 9.5" wide x 4.5" deep. The double tiered fiberglass shades measure approx. 13.25" tall, with the diameter of the upper, smaller beige tier being 8", and it tapers down to 5" at the bottom of the larger, lower teal tier. The atomic finials each measure approx. 6.25" tall!
Condition: Both lamps are in excellent condition for their age - the plaster bases have no chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc. There are a few tiny specks of black paint loss (see photos). Moving onto the shade, with the exception of one small 1/2" crack in the upper beige fiberglass (see photo from above), the shades are completely intact and nice. Said crack is located between two lacing holes, so it doesn't really disrupt the lacing at all (the lacing holes are intact). The placement of the crack also isn't visible when viewing the lamps - one has to be looking down from above to even notice it. gThe same shade also shows a small dark filament in the material (it's not a burn, and it is located on the back side, so it isn't visible when looking at the lamp). It's small and negligible, but being mentioned for accuracy (see photos). The electrical wiring appears to be original, and is in good condition - there are no frays, splits, exposed or brittle areas to the wiring. The lamps are both in fully-functioning, working order. We always recommend having a licensed electrician inspect the lamps prior to long-term use, just to be safe. Being sold "as-is" - if you have questions, we do encourage you to ask them before purchasing as all sales are final. Please bid with confidence.
