Extraordinary Abstract Shapes Vintage Mixed Media Painting 1960s Mid Century Modern Art MCM

Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a fantastic vintage abstract mixed media / collage painting done on thick artist board by St. Louis artist, Richard Hof. Richard was a student under renowned St. Louis artist, Brother Mel (Meyer). This artwork was remitted as part of the 1968 Scholastic Art and Photography Awards in St. Louis. Theme: Abstract Shapes. Materials: Paint, Colored Paper. It is framed in a wooden frame, and it is signed by the artist in the lower right-hand corner (see photos).

Measurements: Including the frame, approx. 49.5" wide x 31" tall.

Condition: Good vintage condition. There is some minor surface wear to the artwork (please zoom in on photos). Nothing horrifying or overly glaring... a few small scuff marks here and there, but still displays very well. There is one small area where there is a slightly darker black line - at first we thought it may have been to cover a scuff mark or something, but it doesn't feel like that's the case as it is smooth to the touch (see photo) - we didn't notice it at first as it is rather inconspicuous, but it is there. As far as the canvas board goes, it has a slight warp to it. While it doesn't particularly detract, especially when viewing the artwork on a wall, it is there and we are pointing it out for accuracy. The back side of the canvas board shows some old moisture marks at the top - they do not translate to the front and are not visible.
