Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a great vintage triple shade Gerald Thurston for Lightolier floor lamp. Circa '60s. Materials Metal, Brass, Aluminum, Glass. The lamp features three evenly spaced pierced metal shades that have glass lens diffuser inserts that rest interiorly on the bottoms of the shades. There is a standard on/off rotary knob switch located below the shades which allows the lamp three-way functionality: one twist allows two sockets to light up, and second twist allows the third socket to light up independently of the other two, and a third and final twist allows all three to light up at the same time. No labels or tags present. It's an awesome lamp that'll look fantastic in any mid century modern or atomic themed setting!
Measurements: The lamp stands approx. 63.5" tall. The distance between the three pierced metal shades is approx. 20". Each of the three shades measures approx. 4" tall x 8" in diameter (top) x 6" in diameter (bottom). Each of the glass lenses that rest at the bottom interior of the shades is approx. 6" in diameter. The on/off rotary knob switch is at a height of 53" from the ground. The round metal base at the bottom of the lamp is approx. 11.5" in diameter.
Condition: Given its age, we'd say the lamp is in good condition. There are some cosmetic things worth mentioning, which we'll do now. First off, the shades don't appear to have any rust, dents or dings. There are some superficial scratches here and there, but nothing overly major (we tried to photograph them as best as possible - so, if you still have questions or concerns, feel free to message us). One of the shades has a small amount of what appears to be white paint touching the rim surface - it should clean up easily - we just chose to leave it in the condition in which it was acquired. One shade has a small touch of gold color loss - again, not a deal breaker in our opinion, but certainly being mentioned for accuracy. The round glass diffuser lens inserts are free from chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc; they could use a gentle cleaning, but are otherwise good. One of the porcelain cuffs that surrounds one of the sockets is chipped along the bottom (see photo) - it doesn't particularly affect anything, nor is it seen. Moving onto the round metal base at the bottom of the lamp - it has some small dents and dimples in places (see photos). There's no rust, oxidation, etc. They may be able to be finessed out, but that's not really our area of expertise. Lastly, the electrical wiring appears to be in very good shape - there are no frays, splits, exposed or brittle wires. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working order. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly encourage having the items inspected by a licensed professional prior to long-term use, just to err on the side of caution. It's a great lamp that displays well!
Note: SHIPPING IS NOT $1 (Etsy doesn't have a feature to select Local Pick Up, so we had to enter something in the field). Due to the size and fragile nature of the lamp, we'd like to limit it to local pick-up only. Alternately, if you live within 50 miles of St. Louis, we can arrange a door-to-door delivery for a nominal fee. If you have a transport company that you like to work with, we'll be more than happy to coordinate the process of having the lamp picked up from us, packaged and delivered to you at your expense - just let us know. As a last resort, the lamp may be able to disassemble at the base, and if so, we can entertain shipping it - inquire before purchasing, please.
