ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare and quite amazing vintage table lamp with its original accompanying fiberglass shades. Circa '50s. We are uncertain as to the maker - possibly Majestic or Luxcraft, or one of the others that were manufacturing lamps during this time period. Material: Brass, Wood and Fiberglass. The shades are a beige color, with gold and white filaments and dots throughout. Each of the shades is held into place by round brass rings that thread directly on the outer shell of the light socket (see photos). The lamp has an on/off switch that is embedded into the black wooden base, and it allows for three-way functionality - one shade can be lit up, or other other two together independent of the first, or lastly, all three at the same time. It's a fantastic lamp that is suitable for any modern interior space!
MEASUREMENTS: With the three shades attached, the lamp stands approx. 30.5" tall x 26.5" wide. The wood base at the bottom of the lamp 12.75" wide x 6.75" deep. Each of the shades measures approx. 9" tall x 9" wide x 9" deep. The sockets are set at staggering heights - the tallest is approx. 25" from the base, the middle is approx. 23 from the base, and the lowest approx. 16" from the base.
CONDITION: Overall the lamp is in good condition for its age. The brass components have a nice patina consistent with age - there is no rust, oxidation, bends, breaks, etc. The black wooden base at the bottom of the lamp shows some light spots and a few superficial scratches - nothing major, but being mentioned for accuracy (see photos). The shades shows a little wear. The material is free from rips, burns, holes, tears, etc. There is a little bit of buckling on some of the panels - we think this could come out with a gentle soaking or steaming. It didn't bother us, so we just left the alone (please refer to photos accompanying the listing). The lacing looks like it was replaced at one point in time. There are small areas at the top and bottom openings of the shades that is missing lacing in spots, but it doesn't appear to be affecting anything - at the top, it is probably where it made contact with the brass discs just above them (see photo), and at the bottom from putting on and removing the shades from the base. The discs at the top cover this area anyway, so the missing lace isn't noticeable. The wiring looks to be original, and is in great shape - there are no frays, splits, exposed or brittle wires. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working condition. As with all vintage lighting, we always recommend having a licensed professional inspect before long-term use. Being sold "as-is", and "as-described". Please ask any questions that you may have prior to purchasing, and we will respond back to you in a timely manner.
As always, we appreciate your interest and thank you for looking!
