ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a great vintage triple metal shaded Gerald Thurston for Lightolier floor lamp. Circa '60s. Materials Metal, Brass, Aluminum, Glass. The lamp features three evenly spaced pierced metal shades that have opaque glass lens diffuser inserts that rest interiorly on the bottoms of the shades. There is a standard on/off rotary knob switch located below the shades which allows the lamp three-way functionality: one twist allows two sockets to light up, and second twist allows the third socket to light up independently of the other two, and a third and final twist allows all three to light up at the same time. There is a Lightolier sticker label present on the interior surface of one of the shades (see photo). The bottom of the base is inscribed with the serial number C-5062. It's an awesome lamp that'll look fantastic in any mid century modern or atomic themed setting!
MEASUREMENTS: The lamp stands approx. 63.5" tall. The distance between the three pierced metal shades is approx. 20". Each of the three shades measures approx. 4" tall x 8" in diameter (top) x 6" in diameter (bottom). Each of the glass lenses that rest at the bottom interior of the shades is approx. 6" in diameter. The on/off rotary knob switch is at a height of 53" from the ground. The round metal base at the bottom of the lamp is approx. 11.5" in diameter.
CONDITION: Given its age, while not perfect, we'd say the lamp is in good condition - with a little TLC, you'll end up with a real beauty on your hands. The vertical metal rod components that stretch between the base at the shades have been repainted a brown color at one point in time. This paint shows scattered chipping throughout. It can easily be touched up. If we were to keep the lamp, we would strip the existing paint to see what's underneath - if it's brass, we'd shine it up, and if not, we'd repaint it black. There are a few superficial scratch marks on the shades, but nothing overly distracting (we tried to photograph them as best as possible - so, if you still have questions or concerns, feel free to message us). One shade has a small touch of gold color loss at the upper rim - again, not a deal breaker in our opinion, but certainly being mentioned for accuracy. The round glass diffuser lens inserts are free from chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc; they could use a gentle cleaning, but are otherwise in good condition. They can be a little finicky in getting them to rest flush at the bottom of the metal shades. The round metal base at the bottom of the lamp has scratches, and a few paint dimples (see photos). Lastly, the electrical wiring appears to be in very good shape - there are no frays, splits, exposed or brittle wires. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working order. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly encourage having the items inspected by a licensed professional prior to long-term use, just to err on the side of caution. It's a wonderful lamp that displays well!
NOTE: We'd prefer local pick-up as the lamp is quite large; however, we are amenable to shipping. The lamp would have to be partially disassembled at the base for that to happen, so you would have to be prepared to reassemble it when it arrives; we believe it is just a matter of a few nuts and bolts on the underside of the base.
