ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a super cool vintage chalkware table lamp that was manufactured by Colonial Arts back in the '50s. The base is constructed of chalkware, while the double-tiered shade is fiberglass. The base color is a beige, but borders on a faint pink, and there is a black wrap around section in the middle that is accented by small brass colored adornments. The shade is fiberglass and is beige in color with some gold accents throughout. The upper tier of the shade also has small round brass adornments which echo those that are on the base. The finial is atomic in appearance, and has six arched spokes that all radiate downward - it's really neat! The lamp is signed and dated on the back side of the base towards the bottom (see photos), and has a copyright date of ©1955 (see photos). The lamp has a standard on/off rotary knob switch that is located at the socket. This lamp will make a stellar addition to any mid century modern or atomic themed dwelling.
MEASUREMENTS: With the shade attached, the lamp stands approx. 33" tall (measured from the bottom of the base to the top of the atomic finial) x 19" wide (bottom diameter of shade) x 19" deep (bottom diameter of shade). The distance from the bottom of the base to the light socket is approx. 23" high. The chalkware base measures approx. 19" tall x 10.5" wide (measured at the base) x 6.5" deep (again, measured at the base). The double tiered fiberglass shade measures approx. 11" tall. The upper tier has a diameter of approx. 16" (measured at the top opening), and it tapers down to 8" (measured at the bottom opening). The lower tier measures approx. 19" in diameter (both top and bottom openings).
CONDITION: Overall, the lamp is in very good, all-original vintage condition. The base shows some minor superficial blemishes in spots, but nothing significant whatsoever (see photos). There are no chips, breaks, repairs, etc. The fiberglass shade is in great shape as well - no rips, holes, tears, stains, repairs, burn marks, etc. The lacing appears to be intact, and looks original to the shade. The electrical wiring is in good condition - no frays, splits, exposed or brittle wires. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working condition. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly recommend having a licensed electrician inspect the wiring prior to long-term use. The lamps are being sold "as-is" - if you have questions, we do encourage you to ask them before purchasing, and we will respond back to you in a timely manner. All sales are final. Please bid with confidence.
PLEASE NOTE: This lamp is LARGE and FRAGILE. For this reason, it will have to ship in two separate parcels - one will contain the shade, while the other will contain the base. Both parcels will be fully-insured for the final sale value of the item.
