Vintage 70s Brutalist Ceramic Lamp Textured Modern Lighting Mid Century MCM

ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a vintage brutalist table lamp with its original accompanying drum shade. Circa '70s. The hexagonal lamp base is constructed of ceramic , and there is a translucent orange-colored panel on the inside that is visible from the cut-outs in the ceramic. The shade is a beige cloth-like material with a decorative gold trim running along the top end of the shade. The interior of the shade is lined with a plastic material. The lamp has two separate operating sockets - one is the main socket that lights up the shade, and the other is a small clip-on style that attaches at the underside of the metal base that is designed to illuminate the inside of the base; it gives off a nice, warm orange glow (see photos). The main socket operates via a rotary knob switch, while the smaller socket has its own cord and inline switch (see photos). We are uncertain as to the maker of the lamp. There are still remnants of an original UL sticker label attached to the socket, but it doesn't give any info as to the maker.

MEASUREMENTS: With the shade attached, the lamp stands approx. 42.75" tall x 16.25" wide. The shade alone measures approx. 20" tall x 14.25" in diameter (top) x 16.25" in diameter (bottom). The shade attaches to the harp by a ring that is set on the inside 12" down from the top rim of the shade. The distance from the bottom of the lamp base to the finial is approx. 34" high, and to the light socket is approx. 27.5" high. The ceramic base measures approx. 19" tall x 8.5" wide x 8.5" deep. The round black metal base at the bottom of the lamp measures approx. 8" in diameter x 1" tall.

CONDITION: Overall, the lamp is in very good condition for its age. The ceramic base is free from chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc. It could benefit from a gentle cleaning, but does display very well in its current state. The shade shows minimal traces of surface wear from age, but nothing that we deem to be bad or that interferes with the display or functionality. The inside of the shade is plastic lined, and shows some traces of residual glue on it from when it was put together. While the lamp is in working order, the wiring should be replaced - it is hard and brittle in areas. Also, it currently has two wires running from it - one black wire that goes to the main socket, and then there's a white electrical cord that lights up the small clip-on accent bulb at the bottom of the base that illuminates the inside of the lamp. When replacing the black wire, the two should be joined so that the lamp only has one wire that serves both sockets. As with all vintage lighting, we always recommend having the wiring checked prior to long-term use. Being sold "as-is" - if you have questions, we do encourage you to ask them before purchasing as all sales are final. Please bid with confidence.

NOTE: This lamp is pretty large and fragile, and as such, it will have to ship in two separate parcels - one will contain the base, and the other the shade. Both will be fully insured for the final sale value of the item. The price reflected in the listing for shipping account for BOTH parcels. If you do not want the shade for any reason, it will lower the price for shipping - please inquire before purchasing if you do not want the shade, and we will adjust the shipping accordingly.
