ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a fantastic vintage table lamp with its original accompanying fiberglass shades. Circa '50s. We believe the lamp to have been manufactured by either Majestic or Guggenheim. The base is constructed of black lacquered wood and brass components. The shades are a translucent fiberglass materials with random pink fibrous filaments throughout (see photos). The lamp has a standard on/off rotary knob switch that is embedded into the wooden base. It allows for three-way functionality: one shade can be lit with one turn of the knob, a second turn of the knob allows the other two shades to light up independently of the first, and a third turn of the knob allows all three to light up simultaneously. The shades rest in shallow cups that surround the light sockets, and they are held in place by small screws (see photo). It's truly a great lamp that'll look wonderful in any interior setting!
MEASUREMENTS: With the shade attached, the lamp stands approx. 39" tall x 30" wide. The shades alone each measure approx. 10.5" tall x 6" wide at the bottom opening. The black lacquered wooden base at the bottom of the lamp measures approx. 14" wide x 6" deep x 1.75" thick.
CONDITION: Overall, the lamp is in very good condition for its age. There are a few minor cosmetic flaws which we'll mention now. First and foremost, one of the shades has two small burn marks - one is approx. 1" long, and the other approx. 0.5" long. They are right next to each other, but can be positioned to face the back where they will not be seen (see photos). The same shade also has a small chip in the fiberglass material that is located at a corner near the frame (again, please see photo). Unless one is looking for these imperfections, they can be turned from sight. Next, the brass has not been polished - it does show some faint spotting / discoloration / patination from age (see photo). All-in-all, not bad. There is green felt on the underside of the base - it needs to be re-glued as it is presently coming off. Aside from that, everything seems to be good. The electrical wiring appears to be original, and is in good condition - there are no frays, splits, exposed or brittle areas. As with all vintage lighting, we always highly recommend having a licensed professional inspect the wiring prior to long-term use. Being sold "as-is", and "as described" - if you have questions, we do encourage you to ask them before purchasing as all sales are final. Please bid with confidence.
NOTE: The lamps is LARGE and FRAGILE. As such, it will ship in two separate parcels - one will contain the base, while the other will contain the shades. BOTH parcels will be fully insured for the final sale value of the item.
