Vintage MCM Ceramic Lamp Fiberglass Shade Geometric Shapes Mid Century Modern Atomic Era

$595.00

ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a fantastic vintage ceramic lamp with its original fiberglass shade. Circa '50s. The base has an erratic linear geometric design applied to the front surface, and it is mixed with small solid gold colored circles throughout (see photos). The shade is a fiberglass material, and as mentioned, it is original to the lamp. The lamp operates with a standard on/off rotary knob switch which is located at the socket. We are uncertain as to the maker of this lamp - there are no labels / tags or signatures present. We've never come across this one before - it's fairly unique in design. It'll make a great addition to any interior setting.

MEASUREMENTS: With the shade attached, the lamp stands approx. 26" tall. The distance from the bottom of the base to the light socket is approx. 14" high. The ceramic base measures approx. 12" wide x 10" tall x 5" deep. The fiberglass shade alone measures approx. 12.5" tall, with the top being 18" wide x 9" deep, and the bottom being 10" deep x 20" wide.

CONDITION: Overall the lamp is in good condition for its age. There are some cosmetic flaws which we'll mention here. First off, there is a small amount of linear black color loss to the painted design on the base (see photos). This can easily be touched up, or just left alone. It didn't bother us, so we just left it as acquired. Aside from that, the base is free from chips, cracks, scratches, breaks, repairs, etc. Moving onto the shade, while structurally solid, it does have age spotting on the fiberglass throughout. Oddly enough, it's only really visible when the lamp isn't lit. When it is lit, one would never even notice it is there (see attached photos). Also, on the inside back panel of the shade there is some darkening from too high a wattage bulb used by a previous owner. It is on the back panel, so it isn't readily noticeable unless one is looking for it. The framework of the shade, as well as the lacing, appear to be in very good shape. There are no cracks, breaks, punctures, repairs, etc. to the fiberglass material. The wiring looks to have been replaced someone along the line, and it's in great shape - there are no frays, splits, exposed or brittle wires. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working condition. As with all vintage lighting, we always recommend having a licensed professional inspect before long-term use. Being sold "as-is", and "as-described". Please ask any questions that you may have prior to purchasing, and we will respond back to you in a timely manner.
