ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a vintage space age chrome eyeball lamp. Circa '60s. The lamp features six (6) spiraling arms, each ending in a chrome cup that encases the lightbulbs. When looking down at the lamp from above, the crossing of the arms makes what looks like an atomic pattern - it's pretty darn cool! The lamp has a standard on/off rotary knob switch on the round chrome base. We are uncertain as to the maker - it might be Sonneman or some other designer from the period, but we're not 100% certain. It's a fantastic lamp that's certain to make a statement wherever it ends up.
MEASUREMENTS: The lamp stands approx. 23" tall x 16" wide x 16" deep. Each of the six (6) chrome cups is approx. 5" round. The round chrome base at the bottom of the lamp is approx. 8" in diameter.
CONDITION: With the exception of a very tiny dimple on the round chrome base, and another just around one of the chrome cups (see photos), the lamp is in great cosmetic condition for it's age - there are no other imperfections that we can note. The larger bulbs in the photos accompanying the listing are the appropriate size for the lamp; they were all burned out so we just took the photos to illustrate what it should look like (they are not included). We used smaller regular sized bulbs in the photos just to show that the sockets all work (also, not included in the sale). Now, while the electrical wiring is in good shape, there is something amiss with the rotary knob switch in the base - it does not appear to be working properly. It could just be a loose wire, but we're not electricians, so we aren't 100% certain. When you plug the lamp in, it immediately turns on, and when you unplug it, it turns off - the rotary knob for whatever reason isn't controlling the sockets at the moment. We strongly recommend having it checked by a professional electrician. As with all vintage lighting, we always encourage having a licensed professional inspect the wiring prior to long-term use. It is being sold "as-is", and "as-described" - if you have questions, we encourage you to ask them prior to purchase, and we will respond back to you in a timely manner. Thanks for looking!
