ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare set of vintage abstract sculptural bull / steer wall hanging plaques. Circa '50s. The two abstract iron heads are each attached to a blond wood backboard. There are spacers attached to the back of each which give the heads a floating appearance against the wood. They are constructed of iron, and the eyes are constructed of wood that is painted red. We were never able to identify who the artist is that created these, but they look great with other mid century modern metal art - they remind us of Frederic Weinberg a bit in style. We've enjoyed having these in our personal collection over the years, and now it's time to let someone else get some enjoyment out of them.
MEASUREMENTS: Each head measures approx. 15.75" wide (measured from horn to horn) x 15.75" tall (measured from horn to bottom). The spacers that project them forward from the wood surface are approx. 1.5" long.
CONDITION: Each one shows light traces of surface wear on the wood (see photos). One has a small corner edge chip to the wood on the back side (see photo). The red eyes show some color loss from age and handling. Aside from that, they're in great shape - no dents, dings, breaks, rust, oxidation, etc. They are being sold as a set, "as-is" and "as-described". If you have questions that we did not already cover, please contact us directly and we'll be more than happy to get back to you.
