ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a fabulous chalkware lamp that was designed and manufactured by Colonial Arts Creations back in the '50s. The chalkware base is designed to look like a ripple in appearance, and is a faint pink color. It rests atop a black rectangular chalkware base. Stemming from the bottom of the base are two angled brass rods that each end in a smaller light socket (see photos). The on/off rotary knob switch is embedded into the black chalkware base; it provides for three-way functionality: one twist lights the main socket, a second twist lights the two smaller sockets independent of the main, and a third twist lights everything up simultaneously. The lamp has "Colonial Arts Creations" inscribed into the black base on the reverse side where the electrical cord emerges. No shade present - it'll be left up to the purchaser to provide their own.
MEASUREMENTS: With the harp attached, the lamp stands a wonderful 30.5" tall x 13" wide. The distance from the bottom of the base to the main light socket is approx. 25.5" high. The distance from the bottom of the base to each of the two smaller decorative light sockets is approx. 19" high, and they are approx. 8" apart from each other. The black chalkware base measures approx. 10" wide x 6" deep x 1" high.
CONDITION: The lamp isn't perfect, but we'd say it is still in relatively good condition for its age. With a little TLC, it can get back up to snuff. Most of the flaws are rather minor and cosmetic (please examine photos closely). First off, the paint on the pink ripple portion of the base has minor scattered scuff marks, a few tiny flecks to the finish, and a few crack marks to the paint at the bottom. Most of this can be easily covered up if you're handy and into touching the lamp up with some paint. We chose to leave it as it was acquired - we have not attempted to clean the lamp in any manner. The black base also shows some signs of color loss, but again - nothing that we deem major (examine photos). There are no significant cracks, breaks, chips, repairs, etc. The brass rods, as well as the socket cups, show patination from age. Most importantly, everything on the lamp works! The electrical wiring is in good condition and looks to be original to the lamp - no frays, splits, exposed or brittle wires. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working condition. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly recommend having a licensed electrician inspect the wiring prior to long-term use. This lamp is being sold "as-is" - if you have questions, we do encourage you to ask them before purchasing, and we will respond back to you in a timely manner. All sales are final. Please bid with confidence.
