Vintage Abstract Wood Figural MODELINE Lamps Mid Century MCM Modern 50s Black

ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a set of vintage abstract figural dancer lamps that were manufactured by Modeline of California. Circa '50s. One lamp is a male figure, while the other is a female figure. Both are constructed of a black cerused wood (see photos). The round bases at the bottom of each lamps are constructed of wood as well. Behind each figure is a grass rod that houses the electrical wiring that leads up to the sockets. Each lamp has a standard on/off rotary knob switch that is located at the socket. On the outside of one of the sockets is an original Modeline sticker label (see photo). These lamps do not presently have shades - it will be up to the purchaser to provide their own shades.

MEASUREMENTS: The male lamp measures approx. 22.25" tall (measured from the bottom of the base to the light socket) x 8.75" in diameter (measured at the base). The figure itself is 18.5" tall x 8.25" wide. The female lamp also measures approx. 22.25" tall (from the bottom of the base to the light socket) x 8.75 in diameter (base). The female figure alone measures approx. 17.5" tall x 9.75" wide.

CONDITION: The figures on each lamp are in excellent condition - there are no chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, scratches, etc. The round bases show paint loos / flaking in various areas (see photos) - they are good candidates for a fresh coat of paint. The brass rods leading up to the electrical sockets are in nice shape with no issues to report other than they could use a little tightening from the underside of the bases. The electrical wiring appears to be fine; however, one of the plug tips has some old electrical tape around it and should be replaced. Both lamps work, and are in fully-functioning order. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly caution to have a licensed electrican inspect the wiring prior to long-term use, just to be safe.
