Vintage Biomorphic Molecule Lamp Modeline Wood Brass Mid Century 50s MCM Modern

ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare vintage biomorphic table lamp that was designed by Arthur Jacobs for Modeline of California. Circa '50s (1956). The lamp was referred to as the "Molecule" lamp, and it is constructed of Korina wood and brass banding. There is also a brass plate over the rectangular wooden base. The lamp has a standard on/off rotary knob switch which is located directly on the socket. The socket still retains a sliver of the original sticker label on the brass cup (see photos). There is no shade present - it'll be left up to the purchaser to provide their own.

MEASUREMENTS: The lamp stands approx 23" tall ( measured from the bottom of the base to the light socket). The biomorphic wood design of the lamp measures approx. 15" tall x 7.5" wide x 1.75" deep. The rectangular base at the very bottom of the lamp measures approx. 7.5" wide x 5" deep x 2" in height.

CONDITION: Overall the lamp is in very good condition. There is one small 1" tarnish mark on the outer brass banding that surrounds the wooden sculptural element (see photo). On the rectangular brass plate which covers the base at the bottom, there is a small red mark on one of the corners of the brass - not sure what it is, nor did we attempt to remove it (see photo). Lastly, there are two very tiny marks on the sculptural wood that look like they may have been touch-ups. They're very small, and at first we didn't even notice them (see photo). Aside from those small blemishes, the lamp is in great shape and displays nicely. The electrical wiring is in good shape and appears to be original to the lamp - no frays, splits, exposed and/or brittle wires. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly recommend having a licensed electrician inspect the wiring prior to long-term use.
