Vintage MCM STIFFEL Floor Lamp w/ Table Mid Century Modern Lighting 50s Atomic Era

ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a vintage STIFFEL floor lamp with built-in square table. Circa '50s / '60s. The lamp is constructed of brass, with a square wooden table and marble base at the bottom. The lamp has three light sockets that are sandwiched between two plastic diffuser shades. There is a standard on/off rotary knob switch that is located on the underside of the sockets. The shade has the STIFFEL name on the center ring where the finial attaches (see photo).

MEASUREMENTS: The lamp stands approx. 50" tall x 20" in diameter. The shade is approx. 6" tall x 20" in diameter. The table measures approx. 14" x 14", and it rests approx. 21" high off the ground. The sockets are at a distance of approx. 44" high. The two plastic diffusers are each 15" in diameter. The marble base that rests atop the floor surface is approx. 8.5" x 8.5" square, and approx. 0.5" thick.

CONDITION: The lamp is in good cosmetic condition for its age, but not perfect. First thing that needs to be mentioned is that the lamp is currently not working - it should be rewired. When you plug it in, the bulbs try to go on by flickering, but then just don't. The surface finish of the wooden table shows wear. It's a good candidate for sanding down and re-staining. It's totally presentable and usable as it is, but would be much better having a little TLC put into it. It is free from chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc. The brass elements of the lamp show some patina / discoloration / verdigris. The two plastic diffusers show wear - there are a few spots where the bulbs previously used were too hot and melted the plastic a little, and there is one small completely stable break in the plastic (again, see photos). One of the wires on the shade that goes from the center to the outer edge of the shade has become loose (see photo), and should be reattached. The inner cardboard lining of the woven shade shows old moisture marks. They are on the inside and did not translate to the outside. While not currently working, the electrical wiring is physically in good shape and appears to be original to the lamp - no frays, splits, exposed or brittle areas. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly recommend having a licensed electrician inspect the wiring prior to long-term use.
