For your consideration we are presenting for sale an unusual vintage table lamp. Circa '50s. It is constructed of wood and brass, and the shades are fiberglass. The body of the lamp. consists of an organic, freeform wood base from which two curvy brass rods are attached. Each rod swoops up to the top ending at slightly staggered heights, and each ends in a fiberglass shade. Both shades are different in shape - one is sort of conical, while the other is ball shaped. The shades are a light greenish color, and they have scattered random black paint splatter throughout. The rotary on/off switch is located on the wooden base, and it allows for three-way functionality of the lamp.... either one or the other of the two shades can be lit independently of the other, or a third twist allows both shades to be lit up at the same time. We are uncertain as to the manufacturer.
Measurements: The lamp measures approx. 33.5" tall (measured from the bottom of the base to the top the upper-most brass rod, and 30" tall to the top of the slightly lower brass rod. With the shades attached, the lamp stands approx. 20" wide (with the shades facing the downward-most position). The wood base measures approx. 16" wide x 10.5" deep x 2" tall. The conical fiberglass shade measures approx. 12" tall x 8" in diameter (measured across the bottom opening), and the ball-shaped shade measures approx. 10" tall x 8" wide.
Condition: Given the age of the lamp, we'd say it's in very good condition. The base shows general black coloration loss from age... doesn't really detract, but we are mentioning it for accuracy - it can easily be touched-up or repainted - we chose to leave it as it was acquired. The brass rods are in good shape - no dents, dings, cracks, breaks, rust, oxidation, etc. They show some general color loss and a gentle patina commensurate with age - they still shine nicely, but could benefit from being polished. The fiberglass shades are free from rips, holes, tears, burns, etc. The lacing on the conical shade has a few holes that have come undone over time (the holes themselves are intact).. still holds the shade together nicely, but we wanted to mention it for accuracy. The ball-shaped shade appears to be fully intact - we're not 100% certain, but it may have been re-laced at one point in time. Both shades could benefit from a gentle cleaning. The electrical wiring appears to be original to the lamp, and is in fine shape - no frays, splits or exposed / brittle wires. As is the case with all vintage lighting and electronics, we always recommend having a licensed professional check the wiring prior to long-term use, just to be safe. Remember, the lamp is around 70 years old! Thanks for looking!
