Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare vintage table lamp with its original accompanying shades manufactured by Plasto Manufacturing. Circa '50s / '60s. The lamp base is heavy - looks to be constructed of a plaster-like material with a textured surface. The shades are plastic, and each are composed of two removable parts that are held in place by three brass metal pins - the inner shade is smooth, off-white in color and cylindrical, while the outer shades have a rippled appearance, are also plastic, and they have gold sparkles throughout. The lamp has three-way functionality - either one or the other of the two sockets can be lit independently of the other, or a third twist of the rotary knob can allow both sockets to be lit at the same time. The on/off rotary knob is embedded into the side of the base. The lamp is signed Plasto Mfg on the back side of the base close to where the electrical cord comes out (see last photo).
Measurements: With the shades attached, the lamp stands approx. 30.5" tall x 17" wide x 6" deep (measured at the base). The inner smooth portion of the shade measures approx. 11" tall x 4" in diameter, while the outer ruffled portion of the shade measures approx. 7.5" tall x 5" in diameter.
Condition: Overall, the lamp is in good condition, but it does have some cosmetic issues that are worth mentioning as it is not perfect. First off, there is a small shallow chip to the plaster at the base close to where the on/off switch is (see photo). This can be fixed quite easily by someone who is good at that type of thing - we chose to leave it in the condition in which it was acquired. There is also small flat chip of surface finish loss at the top of one of the arms where the metal chain emerges to hold the socket (again, see photos). Another easy fix that can be left up to the winning purchaser to handle. Aside from that, there are a few very minor nicks to the finish, and a small orange paint mark on the back side towards the bottom of the base (see photos). As far as the shades go, one of the inner smooth cylinders has two stable 2" cracks in the plastic starting at the to edge (see photos) - they don't really detract, and can certainly be positioned to the back side of the lamp. The other shade has one 1.25" stable crack again starting at the top rim (see photos). The inner cylinders show some signs of light discoloration towards the center from previous bulbs being used - no real burns or melting per se, just a slight yellowing (see photo). The electrical wiring appears to be original to the lamp, and it is in good condition - no frays, splits, exposed wires, etc. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working order. As with all vintage lighting and electronics, we always strongly recommend having the item checked by a licensed professional prior to long-term use, just to be safe. Being sold "as-is, as-described". If you have any questions, we encourage them and will respond back to you in a timely manner.
