Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a pair of vintage flamenco dancer chalkware / plaster lamps. Manufactured by Continental Lamp Company. Marked on the back side of the base where the electrical cord comes out: Continental Art Co., 1951 (see photo). Each lamp comes with a matching double-tier fiberglass shade. These lamps are heavy, and certainly sturdy! Both lamps have an on/off toggle switch located by the socket.
Measurements: With the shades attached, each lamp stands approx. 33.5" tall (measured from the bottom of the lamp base to the top of the finial). Each figure stands approx. 21" tall. The distance from the bottom of each base to the light socket is approx. 25". The distance to the top of each harp is approx. 32". Both shades are approx. 11" tall, with the larger lower tier having a diameter of approx. 18", while the smaller upper tier has a diameter of 12" at the top, which tapers down to 8.5" in diameter at the bottom. The amoeba-shaped bases, when viewing the figures from the front, each measures approx. 11" deep x 9" wide x 1.75" tall.
Condition: Given their age, we'd say both lamps are in very good condition. The bases are free from chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc. They've been very well cared for over the years. There are a few teeny tiny flea bite flakes to the paint along the edges of the bases, but they in no way detract - we're solely mentioning for accuracy. The fiberglass shades are free free rips, holes, tears, burn marks, repairs, etc. The lacing appears to be original on both shades. There are a few spots where the lacing popped, but the shades are still structurally very solid - the actual holes are intact, if you decide you want to re-lace them somewhere down the line. There are a few random spots on each shade, looks like perhaps white paint and small discoloration marks. They should come out with a gentle cleaning. We just chose to leave them in the condition in which they were acquired as they are nice as they are. Both lamps are in fully-functioning, working condition. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly suggest having a licensed electrician inspect them prior to long-term use. Please note - we have not attempted to clean the lamps or shades in any manner - they are being presented for sale in the condition in which they were acquired. Being sold "as-is" - if you have questions, we encourage them prior to purchase as all sales are final.
PLEASE NOTE: If you'd like additional photos, we'd be more than happy to provide them - just let us know specifically what you'd like to see, and we can email them to you. Also, the lamps are large and heavy, hence the postage rate. The bases will have to ship in separate boxes from the shades in order for everything to arrive safely - 3 large boxes!
